Finding the right scholar

Every scholar on Reliwise has been checked by our team. Use the filters to search faster.

1. Open the Explore menu, then choose Scholars.
2. Type a name, topic, or language in the search box, for example "tajwid".
3. Use the Filter to pick a field: Quran & Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic, Tajwid, or Islamic history.
4. Use the Format filter to choose Online (over the internet) or Offline (in person) sessions, and the City filter if you want to meet face to face.
5. Click View profile to read the scholar's background, student reviews, and price per session before you decide.

Booking a session

You pay nothing when you book. Session fees are settled directly with the scholar.

1. On the scholar's page, click Book a session.
2. Pick a date on the calendar. Only available days can be selected.
3. Pick an available time. All times are in WIB (Western Indonesia Time). Times marked "taken" are already booked by someone else.
4. Write the topic you'd like to discuss (optional).
5. Click Confirm booking. Done. Your session is scheduled.

Joining a session on Google Meet

Online sessions happen on Google Meet, Google's free video call service. The link appears in two places.

1. Check your email. After booking, a Google Calendar invitation with the Meet link is sent to your email automatically.
2. Or open My schedule on Reliwise. Every booking has a Join Meet button.
3. When it's time, click the link or the button. Allow the camera and microphone if asked.
4. If there is no Meet link, the scholar hasn't connected Google Calendar yet. Contact them through the details on their page.

Cancelling a booking

Plans change, and that's fine. Just cancel early so the scholar's time isn't wasted.

1. Open My schedule.
2. Find the booking you want to cancel, then click Cancel.
3. Confirm the cancellation. The scholar is notified automatically.
4. Note: you can't cancel less than 3 hours before the session starts.

Leaving a review after a session

Your review helps other students choose the right teacher.

1. After the session ends, open My schedule.
2. Click Leave a review on the past session.
3. Choose a star rating (1 to 5).
4. Add a short comment if you like, then click Submit review.

Reporting inappropriate content

If you find a profile or publication that is misleading, inappropriate, or deviant, report it and our team will review it.

1. Open the scholar page or publication you want to report.
2. Click the Report button.
3. Choose a reason, such as false information or impersonation.
4. Add a short explanation if needed, then click Submit report.

Enjoying the free content

Not everything on Reliwise costs money. These three pages are open to everyone.

1. Open the Knowledge Feed to read articles and watch video lessons from our scholars.
2. Open Events & Gatherings to find in-person study circles in your city.
3. Open Live Sessions to follow live streams, or replay the recordings any time.

Attending events & gatherings

Beyond private sessions, you can join in-person events and gatherings hosted by scholars and organizations.

1. Open the Events & Gatherings menu and pick an event that interests you.
2. Read the details: date, location, agenda, and how many people are going.
3. Tap I'm coming to register instantly. If the event needs approval, tap Apply to attend and wait for the organizer's confirmation.
4. You'll get a notification once your application is approved. Need to cancel? Reopen the event and tap Cancel attendance.

Applying to become a scholar

Anyone with knowledge and teaching experience can apply. Our admin team reviews every application.

1. Sign in to your Reliwise account, then open the My scholar page menu.
2. Fill in your contact email and phone number. We'll contact this email for an interview.
3. Tell us your background and motivation in the box provided.
4. Prepare your documents as PDFs (max 10 MB each): CV, motivation letter, certificates or ijazah, and a government ID (ID card or passport).
5. Include a link to a short video of you teaching. A YouTube or Google Drive link is fine.
6. Click Submit application, then wait for word from the admin team by email.

Building your scholar page

Once your application is approved, this page is what students see. Make it count.

1. Open the My scholar page menu.
2. Fill in your display name (for example "Ahmad Fauzi") and your specialty.
3. Upload a profile photo, then fill in your location, languages, and the topics you teach.
4. Write the About you section warmly: your education and the way you teach.
5. Click Create my page. You can come back and change it any time.
6. Click View public page to see your page exactly as students see it.

Setting your availability and price

Students can only book the hours you open. Set them around your own schedule.

1. On My scholar page, find the Weekly availability section.
2. Pick the days you can teach.
3. Set a start time, an end time, and a duration for each session (for example 60 minutes).
4. Remember: all times use the WIB (Asia/Jakarta) time zone.
5. Enter your price per session in Rupiah in the profile section, then click Save changes.

Connecting Google Calendar

This step matters. Once connected, every student booking automatically creates the appointment and a Google Meet link on your calendar, and the student receives an email invitation right away. Without it, you have to arrange the meeting yourself.

1. Open your scholar dashboard, then click the Settings tab in the left-hand menu.
2. The Google Calendar card is at the very top. Click Connect Google Calendar.
3. Choose your Google account and approve the permissions it asks for.
4. Once connected, the card shows a Connected status and every new booking automatically creates the appointment and a Google Meet link on your calendar.
5. Want to unlink? Go back to the Settings tab and click Disconnect on the Google Calendar card.
6. Haven't connected yet? That's fine — you can still paste your own Google Meet link for each session from My Schedule.

Understanding verification tiers: Emerald and Gold

Reliwise measures trust through several checks: identity, scholarly credentials, a teaching video, and student ratings. The more complete, the higher your tier.

1. Emerald, the Scholar tier: your identity and scholarly credentials have been checked by the Reliwise team.
2. Gold, the highest tier (Master Scholar): adds a proven teaching record and strong student ratings.
3. The badge appears on your page and helps students choose with confidence.
4. To move up, complete the verifications on your profile and keep every session excellent.

Writing articles and sharing videos on the Feed

The Knowledge Feed is where you share writings and video lessons with everyone, free for anyone to read.

1. Open My scholar page, then find the My publications section.
2. Click Write a publication.
3. Choose the type: Article (writing) or Video (a YouTube link).
4. Fill in a title and a short 1-3 sentence summary.
5. For an article, write the content in the large box. For a video, paste the YouTube link (how to get one is covered in the upload guide below).
6. Click Publish. Your publication appears on the Knowledge Feed right away.

Creating in-person events & gatherings

Host in-person study circles and manage attendance right inside Reliwise.

1. Open your Scholar Page, find the My events & gatherings section, and click Create event.
2. Fill in the title, description, date, time (WIB), and location. You can also add an agenda and an event link.
3. Choose an attendance mode: Open (attendees join instantly) or Approval required (attendees apply and you approve them).
4. Optionally set a capacity, and choose whether the attendee count and list are shown publicly.
5. Click Publish. For approval events, review incoming applications and click Approve or Decline; applicants are notified automatically.

How to stream live on YouTube

This guide is for you if you've never streamed before. Take it slowly, one step at a time. All you need is a phone or a computer and an internet connection.

1. Get a Google account ready. If you have a Gmail address, you already have a Google account. If not, go to accounts.google.com, choose "Create account", and follow the instructions.
2. Open youtube.com in a browser (Chrome, Safari, or another). Click Sign in at the top right, and sign in with your Google account.
3. If this is your first time, create a channel: click your profile photo at the top right, then choose "Create a channel". A channel is the "home" for your videos on YouTube.
4. Go to studio.youtube.com. This is your channel's workspace, called YouTube Studio.
5. Click the Create button (a camera icon with a +) at the top right, then choose Go live.
6. YouTube will ask you to verify your phone number. Enter your mobile number, then type in the code sent to you by SMS.
7. After verifying, YouTube needs 24 hours to switch live streaming on. This is normal, so just close it and come back tomorrow.
8. The next day, open studio.youtube.com again, click Create, then choose Go live.
9. Fill in the title of your session (for example "Tafsir Study of Surah Al-Kahf") and make sure visibility is set to Public.
10. Find the Share button (an arrow icon), click it, then choose Copy link. Your stream link is now copied.
11. Open Reliwise, go to My scholar page, find the My live sessions section, then click Schedule stream.
12. Paste the link into the YouTube link box, fill in the title and start time (WIB), then click Schedule.
13. When it's time, go back to YouTube Studio and click Go live. Your stream automatically appears on Reliwise's Live Sessions page.

Recording and uploading a lesson video

You don't need expensive gear. A phone camera is enough.

1. Record the lesson with your phone camera. Hold the phone sideways (landscape), pick a quiet room, and keep the phone close enough for clear sound.
2. Open the YouTube app on your phone (or youtube.com on a computer) and sign in with your Google account.
3. Tap the + (Create) button at the bottom of the screen, then choose Upload a video.
4. Select the lesson video you just recorded.
5. Give it a clear title, for example "Fiqh Lesson: How to Pray".
6. Set visibility to Public so everyone can watch, then tap Upload.
7. Wait for the upload to finish. Long videos can take a while, so keep the app open.
8. When it's done, open your video on YouTube, tap Share, then choose Copy link.
9. Paste that link into Reliwise: in My publications (choose the Video type) so it appears on the Knowledge Feed, or in My live sessions as a recording.

Registering an organization (a mosque or institution)

Representing a mosque, pesantren, or institution? Register it as an organization so publications and events appear under the institution's name and can be managed by several people.

1. Sign in, open the account menu at the top right, and choose Become an organization.
2. Fill in the organization's name, description, location, website, and contact details.
3. Upload a supporting PDF document as proof of the institution.
4. Click Submit and wait for the admin team's review.
5. Once approved, open Manage organization to edit the page, invite other managers, and post publications and events under the organization's name.

Verified

The scholar's identity has been confirmed as real and accountable.

A government ID (KTP or passport) is checked, the face is matched to the document, and a bank account is verified, alongside a confirmed email, phone number, and a complete profile.

Scholar · Emerald

Beyond a verified identity, their fitness to teach has been assessed by our team.

All the Verified identity checks are met, plus passing a religious knowledge test and submitting a teaching video that our team reviews.

Master Scholar · Gold

The highest level: scholarly credentials and ijazah have been formally validated.

All Scholar requirements are met, plus scholarly credentials and ijazah that have been examined and certified. A track record from sessions and student reviews further strengthens the rank.
